Straight Hitch Tongue
This is our standard offering, and it positions the Scout to come straight out of your hitch. Fits 90% of vehicles on the market, including Jeeps, SUV’s and Trucks.
– Carry Capacity: 500lbs
– Vehicle Examples: Any Vehicle with at least 14 inches of clearance.
4” Riser Hitch Tongue
This option positions the Scout 4” above your receiver hitch – great for any vehicle with rear-facing exhaust, including full size trucks and SUV’s, as well as vehicles with a lower hitch height, and vehicles looking for some extra trail clearance.
– Carry Capacity: 300lbs
– Vehicle Examples: Vehicles with Rear-Facing Exhaust, Low Clearance Trucks or SUVs, Off-Road Builds
7” Riser Hitch Tongue
This option positions the Scout 7” above your vehicle’s receiver hitch – Originally designed for the UTV market, this option provides the best departure angle for trail running vehicles. It is also our recommended option for smaller SUV’s, CUV’s, Minivans and sedans with a 2” hitch, and is popular on Tesla, Outback and the Toyota Prius. If you have a vehicle with a 2” hitch receiver that is lower than 14” off the ground, or you are running some heavy trails, this is the best choice for you.
– Carry Capacity: 300lbs
– Vehicle Examples: UTVs, Sedans, Minivans, CUV’s and smaller SUV’s (Not recommend for trucks with a tailgate – 7” height prevents dropping your tailgate fully)

*PLEASE NOTE: 2023-2024 Jeep Wranglers may not offer enough clearance to sit under the tire. To be sure, you need 3.5″ between the upper inside wall of the hitch and bottom of the spare*
*If you drive a 2023-2024 Toyota Sequoia or a 2023-2024 Lexus LX600, you will need to purchase the Sequoia pin from our pin & lock replacements product page as the standard pin WILL NOT fit on your wide hitch!*
*If you drive a Porsche Cayenne, the pin/lock may not fit on your hitch due to the trailer light outlet*
Be aware of proximity to exhaust. Heat from vehicle exhaust can damage paint and can melt cargo products loaded. This is primarily a concern on rear-facing exhaust.

ROUND PIPE CONSTRUCTION

WOBBLE-FREE DESIGN
Our patented anti-wobble design is so good, it’s patented! The SCOUT features a hollow tongue, with a solid 1.5″ threaded insert, and a stainless steel threaded pin that bolt it to your hitch to prevent your rack from dancing while you’re driving. An automotive grade lock is not included with the SCOUT, but is available for purchase to keep the SCOUT safe in your hitch.

SHIPPING
Due to its size, we are able to ship our Scout model UPS Ground. It’s an easy and quick ship method. Current transit time, once it leaves our dock, is 2-4 days, and we offer expedited options at checkout as well.

My upcoming vacation is a week away at the time I write this review. However, the fact that I had to assemble very little in connection to the carrier already is an upside for me. Also, the product looks stunning. I feel like it’s worth the money. I am hopping that I have no issues when I take off next week. Installation was easy; it looks like a quality product; great size for all the gears we plan to take to our 1 week trip; and it’s made in the US (goes perfectly well with my Jeep, haha).

What a great product. Even the packaging was streamlined and easy to unpack. Very easy to assemble (although it’s a little piece of hell if you try to do it with the provided wrenches-get two socket wrenches and counter-rotate). Feels very sturdy and well-constructed. I need to go out and get a 7/8″ socket to complete the installation, which is a little bit of a bummer. This is the first thing I’ve ever put in a tow hitch receiver, and it has been generally unintimidating. Also, quite the looker. Worth the premium price for the made in the USA quality and environmental responsibility.

The product fit and finish are fantastic. Although I was warned by customer service that there is a clearance issue with my 2020 Porsche Cayenne, I ordered anyway to see if it would fit and if not, use on my other vehicle. If you unscrew the trailer electronics coupler from its mount you have enough room to install the bolt and lock correctly. I will have to zip tie the connector while using the rack, but that’s all. No trimming required. Perhaps you could add a small offset plate for the connector?
