Out of Office with PAKMULE: Deer Hunting with a Rivian R1S and the SCOUT hitch carrier

Let’s get one thing straight: the PAKMULE crew doesn’t just sit behind desks dreaming up America’s most badass cargo carriers for no reason. We use them—because we’re as dedicated to hunting, adventure, and the great outdoors as you are. Last week, we found ourselves in the ultimate “Out of Office” mode: deer hunting, gear packed on a Rivian R1S, and putting the 4-inch black SCOUT hitch carrier to the test in real-world, down-n-dirty conditions. And let us tell you, this combo? Absolute money.

Spoiler alert, fellas: The Rivian R1S just might be the ultimate hunting rig. Silent. Powerful. Capable. Toss a PAKMULE hitch carrier in the mix, and you have an EV beast ready for anything you throw its way—mud, meat, and memories included.

I think the Rivian is a super cool vehicle, but I will be putting my Packmule on my Ford F350 and driving 1800 miles to Wyoming for elk and blackbear hunting next week. Temperatures are expected to range from the 20s to the 40s. Not an EV friendly scenario. I do plan to put this Packmule through its paces though. 650 # load capacity will be tested.
